My name is Joe Rajca. I started my Aviation career in 1986 after graduating from Lewis University. I have worked at Evergreen Air Center and Midway Airlines until 1991. I briefly worked for Northwest Airlines before coming to Southwest Airlines in 1992 where I started in Dallas. I have been with SWA for over 25 years and am currently stationed in Chicago. I have been a Shop Steward since 1993 until the reinception of Local 4. I then successfully ran for Vice President and served in that position until 2015 when the position of President became vacant. I successfully ran for President then and am currently running for re-election.
During my last term, AMFA has been through some trying times including a complete turnover at the National level and a mostly frustrating contract negotiation at SWA. I have strived for solidarity within our Local and tried to keep our members informed of all that goes on within our Local which includes using “ZOOM” at our GMM meetings. We are still the only Local that provides this to its Members.
I have been involved with the AMFA Informational Picket against SWA and SWAPA’s picket. I have created open lines of communication between Local 4 and both SWAPA and the TWU to discuss any and all issues of common concern.
I feel that in our current environment, we need strong leadership and experience, both of which I have been dedicated too and will continue to work toward.
I am currently asking for your vote for President to keep Local 4 strong for another term.
